BURKENBERG HOUSE

Burkenberg house designed by J.Kidman Architecture was an extensive double storey extension renovation to a classic victorian workers cottage located in Hawthorn, Melbourne.

The existing house itself situated on a small block was complemented by a second storey that keeps to the tradition and heritage of the area. The existing building was fully refurbished and restored whilst including the modern day benefits. The new extension included two new bedrooms, ensuite, bathroom, laundry and kitchen/living area. Whilst small in footprint the project required serious attention to detail and care to achieve the intended design, from timber ceilings and windows being one, to detailed 2pac joinery, to burnished concrete coming together with an array of different building materials and finishes.
